Our ABC besmirched: Accusations of bias in Q&A Twitter feed

Posted by Derek Sapphire on Tuesday, March 29, 2011,
Fellow travellers, one of the most appalling trends in mainstream media discourse lately is this increasing perception that the ABC is somehow biased to the left. This is just completely false, and only a revolting right-wing reactionary would say such a thing.

The vile accusers making this offensive claim seem to be particularly fixated on Q&A for some reason. They say the show is guilty of bias in several ways, including the selection of guests. But haven't you noticed, they actually have c...

Stephan Lewandowsky, sockpuppets and the murder of Alene Composta

Posted by Derek Sapphire on Monday, March 28, 2011,
In his usual swaggering manner the execrable Tim Blair compares fellow traveller Stephan Lewandowsky to Alene Composta, whom the good professor quite understandably took to be a real person.

Now, what's really depressing about Stephan's piece at The Drum is that it clearly shows that he too has now adopted the dominant narrative on Alene: That she was a blogging sockpuppet created with the sole and malicious intention of embarrassing the ABC. (Jonathon Holmes is another progressive duped by t...

Tanya Plibersek destroys Scott Morrison on Lateline

Posted by Derek Sapphire on Saturday, March 26, 2011,
If anyone is in any doubt whatsoever about just how eeevil the Liberal Party is then they should have a look at this debate on the ABC's Lateline between the abominable Scott Morrison and the sassy, feisty and undeniably empowered Tanya Plibersek.

Here she is saying what really needs to be said about those shameful and mysogynous signs calling Julia Gillard a witch and a bitch at that wingnut rally against the carbon tax:

TANYA PLIBERSEK: There needs to be an apology from the Leader of the Op...

Andrew Bolt and Tim Flannery on MTR 1377 and that "thousand years" quote

Posted by Derek Sapphire on Friday, March 25, 2011,
In a nauseating display of triumphalism, the appalling Tim Blair describes an entirely reasonable admission from Tim Flannery in his interview with Andrew Bolt on MTR1377 as if it was some gigantic faux pas that "blows the entire scam wide open".

The offending quote was this:

If we cut emissions today, global temperatures are not likely to drop for about a thousand years.

Far from exposing some kind of scam, it just shows how wise, visionary and far-thinking Professor Flannery is. It also reve...

Alene Composta "suicide" faked by bloggers who killed her

Posted by Derek Sapphire on Thursday, March 24, 2011,
Fellow travellers, I'm sure many of you know of the final post on Alene Composta's blog. It appears not to have been written by Alene herself, but by her two sons. And from their writings we learn that Ms Composta had actually killed herself.

Well, some may say that this completely disproves my theory that she was a real person who was murdered by eeevil right wing bloggers who resurrected her online identity for their own abominable purposes.

I must admit that this latest revelation did flum...

Appalling Miranda Devine's vile hate speech on Q&A

Posted by Derek Sapphire on Tuesday, March 22, 2011,
Fellow travellers, as you well know our enemies in the Australian media are many and powerful. As Jonathon Holmes so searingly observed last night on Media Watch, those revolting shock jocks are stoking the carbon-spewing flames of climate change denialism, giving scientists who don't believe in climate change lots of air time, while denying it to scientists who do (which is all of them).

And even though what those broadcasters are doing is against the law (that's L A W - law - get it!) they c...

60 Minutes, multiculturalism, sharia and Australia's green movement

Posted by Derek Sapphire on Monday, March 21, 2011,
Of course appalling right-wingers will be feeling vindicated over last night's episode of 60 Minutes and their story on the "failure" of multiculturalism. But they so hate diversity they would say that, wouldn't they?

And the report by Michael Usher really was a disgrace. It was a truly appalling beatup of a non-problem. Thankfully, the team redeemed themselves with their unflinching portrayal of the terrifyingly cataclysmic risks posed by the damaged Japanese nuclear reactors. Surely journali...

The Alene Composta story: an alternative narrative

Posted by Derek Sapphire on Saturday, March 19, 2011,
As you all well know, the great unloofahed are quite happy to accept the first plausible, linear narrative offered to them as valid, then discount any other perspectives completely. But we see things more deeply, spiritually and compassionately don't we, fellow travellers? That's why we come to very different and more searingly insightful conclusions on so many issues.

Take the case of global warming. Climate change denialists pointed out that carbon dioxide had been present in much higher co...

I doubt Alene Composta committed suicide. But was she murdered?

Posted by Derek Sapphire on Wednesday, March 16, 2011,
Fellow travellers, as you well know, I was deeply distressed recently over what seemed like the premature expiration of Alene Composta's blog. I was very worried that she had been so distraught over the cyber-bullying she had endured that she had actually killed herself.

I myself have been subject to vicious abuse, both online and off, and I know how soul destroying it can be. Without the knowledge that I have so much love still to give the world, and so much attitudinal reconstruction yet to...

Gaia and the earthquake in Japan

Posted by Derek Sapphire on Saturday, March 12, 2011,
Fellow travellers, I almost feel guilty about opining on the significance of the earthquake in Japan. I mean, it has only just happened, there has been much destruction of the environment, and the body count is rising rapidly. Humans also have been heavily affected.

But opine I must, and immediately! The reason: vile, opportunistic right-wingers have wasted no time in exploiting this terrible event to further their own anti-green agenda.

Completely. Utterly. Disgraceful.

It's also deeply ironic...

Alene Composta, I feel your pain

Posted by Derek Sapphire on Thursday, March 10, 2011,
Fellow travellers, if you peruse the rancid right-wing reaches of the blogosphere as I do from time to time, then surely you will have heard about a blogger called Alene Composta. Now, there is a meme going round that she is some kind of cyber-sock puppet created by a hateful conservative with the explicit intention of shaming the ABC.

As regular readers of this blog know, similarly vile and false rumours have been spread about myself. I have even been named by an appalling AmerKKKan com...

Albrechtsen, Carlton on Q&A before International Women's Day

Posted by Derek Sapphire on Tuesday, March 8, 2011,
It is International Women's Day today, fellow travellers, which is obviously cause for great celebration! You'll all be pleased to know that I danced a dance of empowerment and joy to that Helen Reddy classic with my feline, feminist fellow traveller Jocelyn.

But there was sadness too. My cat and I wept about the fact that blonde jokes are still being told in the workplace in this country, sometimes even by women themselves! And our tears flowed over the tragic dearth of the gentler (and also ...

No Andrew Landeryou, the Greens are economically responsible!

Posted by Derek Sapphire on Sunday, March 6, 2011,
Fellow travellers, one thing that we on the green left have to constantly put up with is this vile accusation that we don't care about the economy. Nothing could be further from the truth!

In the latest example of this the appalling Andrew Landeryou verbals the visionary Greens Leader in a pathetic attempt to confirm this accusation. Citing a recent interview on the 7:30 Report he takes just one small quote of Bob Brown's and implies that it's an admission that the Greens are economically irre...

Brilliant Gretel Killeen on Q&A brings hope to the ABC

Posted by Derek Sapphire on Tuesday, March 1, 2011,
Fellow travellers, like many of you I tend not to watch the ABC as much as I used to. It seems to have become so much more conservative lately. It all started with the appointment of that revolting Janet Albrechtsen to the board a while ago. I mean, can't we just have a purge of reactionaries and right-wingers so that balance can be restored to our ABC?

One show in which this appalling bias is always depressingly clear is Q&A. The producers are quite brazen about it. They have people like Mira...
